What is the Tubuh Club?

Team: The ‘Tubuh Club’ was formerly ‘Die Athletenschmiede’ and was founded in 2016 as a pure fitness studio. Since then, we have tried to develop the concept holistically. We now combine a normal gym, physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic under one roof. We have a cold chamber at minus 85 degrees and, with Dr Nesrin Usta, we now even have a doctor on site.

What's the story behind the name change?

Team: The new name ‘Tubuh’ stands for body and comes from Indonesian. It basically means ‘body club’. We wanted to emphasise the holistic nature of our concept with the new name. Previously, we had 'Die Athletenschmiede' as a pure fitness studio and various other brands, e.g. for the cold chamber. In order to structure this more clearly, we decided to unite everything under one brand.

Why did you choose Areal Böhler as your location? Team: Originally, there was simply a lot of space here at a good rental price. There is 700 square metres of space here and Areal Böhler was not yet so commercially developed at the time. But if you look at the development in recent years - the new development areas, the new tenants, then it suits our target group very well. The area is perfect for people from Meerbusch, Oberkassel and Düsseldorf in particular.

Who trains with you? Team: We have a very mixed target group. Many people assume that only competitive athletes train here - but that's not the case. Our clients are about 50:50 men and women, the youngest is 13 years old, the oldest 76. Of course, we also have professional athletes, but also people who are just starting out with sport or simply want to stay healthy and fit.

Is there anything you would like to see for the future of Areal Böhler? Team: A healthy gastronomic alternative on the Areal would be very nice. We also enjoy pizza and pasta from time to time, but a healthier option for in-between meals would be great.

You have witnessed the entire development of Areal Böhler. How do you see the changes? Team: It's really great to see how Areal Böhler has developed. I started as a member in 2021 and, of course, also witnessed the slumber during coronavirus. But what happened afterwards - how the Areal was developed, what new offers were created - is impressive. The effect of projects like RheinRiff in particular make the area very attractive. If this continues, it will be a really exciting location for the coming years.
